SAFETY RECALL NOTICE: NHTSA ID: 18E038
June 4, 2018
Dear Yakima Dealer,
Yakima Products has found that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists with Yakima HoldUp EVO and SingleSpeed products (2018 release).
Certain Yakima HoldUp EVO products (2018 release) are being recalled. The affected units can be identified by determining the shape of the Snap Pin heads shown below (one on each side).
REASON FOR RECALL
Yakima has determined that HoldUp EVO SKU’s manufactured between March 1, 2018 and April 30, 2018 may have a pin not fully snapped into place. These snap pins could become loose and fall out causing the rear wheel cup (and rear wheel) to detach from the main frame. Prior warnings of this defect may include sliding or banging noises when the rear wheel and wheel cup hits the ground. This could result in a bike ejection, causing a crash or personal injury to persons outside the vehicle.
- PLEASE INSPECT ANY INVENTORY TO ENSURE AFFECTED UNITS ARE REMOVED AND MADE UNAVAILABLE FOR SALE.
- Product shall be immediately removed from shelves and made unavailable for sale.
- Go to https://explore.yakima.com/holdup-evo-recall-dealer for detailed instructions. If you have any questions, contact your outside representative, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or contact Customer Service number 888-925-4621.
